Faculty Higher Secondary School, North Guwahati proudly observed National Press Day with an inspiring and action-packed celebration! We were honoured to welcome Mr. Mridhusmoy Baruah — former National Geographic intern, International Desk Correspondent, and NE Regional Editor of The Indian Express — as our distinguished Resource Person. Under his encouraging guidance, the Novellus Club conducted a dynamic Mock Press Meet, where student journalists engaged panelists with thoughtful and sharp questions across AI, geopolitics, entertainment, politics, and sports. The session enlightened students about the essential role of a free, responsible and ethical press in shaping society and safeguarding democracy.
The campus came alive with sparkle and spirit as we honoured the brilliance and innocence of childhood. The festivities began with a warm homage to Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru and a soulful tribute to the legendary Zubeen Garg. Teachers took the stage with electrifying dance numbers, melodious solos and lively group performances. The grounds hosted two thrilling friendly matches — Football (Class XI vs XII) and Cricket (Teachers vs Students). The day ended on a heartwarming note with a grand luncheon, bringing the entire school family together.
Ten vibrant events unfolded in this edition — introducing three new intellectual arenas: BOOKFLIX, THE ELIXIR OF PHILOSOPHY, and PLOT TWIST — along with last year's favourites. The event was graced by the participation of students from renowned institutions across the region, making Day 1 truly benchmark-worthy and spectacular!
The students celebrated Pre-Deepawali with great enthusiasm — creating stunning Rangoli designs, lighting earthen lamps, and sharing sweets with teachers and friends. Their vibrant creations spread positivity and illuminated every heart with festive joy and togetherness.
The Primary Wing celebrated Pre-Deepawali with great pomp, pleasure, and enthusiasm! Students filled the campus with colours and joy — making beautiful Rangolis, decorating Diyas, and sharing sweets & snacks with teachers and friends. A day of creativity, togetherness, and festive cheer!

Observed at Faculty Higher Secondary School, North Guwahati as part of the Morning Assembly Activity, initiated by Synergy – The Science Club. Students reflected on the importance of mental well-being, beginning with a brief introduction on the significance of the day, followed by a calming meditation session that encouraged mindfulness and inner peace.
Faculty Higher Secondary School, Orange House – also known as 'Dr. Bhupen Hazarika House' – marked the day with a soulful rendition of Bhupendra Sangeet in the assembly. As the nation celebrates the birth centenary of Dr. Bhupen Hazarika, we remember the legendary voice that transcended borders and generations.
The stage came alive with music and passion during the Inter-House Singing Competition. Students from Classes VI to XII participated in two exciting categories: Classical and Modern. Each of the five Houses presented their talents with remarkable energy, making it a spectacular musical event.
A vibrant and joy-filled competition lit up the FHSS campus as students from Grades 3–5 unleashed their creativity. They dove into making paper bags, stone and bottle paintings, clay models, and more. The floral decoration segment was equally mesmerizing, with students crafting bouquets, baskets, and vases in a dazzling array of hues.
Faculty Higher Secondary School, North Guwahati proudly hosted an awareness programme on "Student Mental Well-Being and Suicide Risk Reduction", an initiative by AIIMS Guwahati under the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare. In collaboration with leading institutes and the Government of Assam, the session aimed to empower students with emotional support tools and destigmatize mental health conversations.
The kindergarten wing lit up with excitement as little learners celebrated Red Day – A Day of Colour and Joy! Dressed head to toe in vibrant red, the tiny tots dived into a day full of fun and learning — from red fruit tasting and show-and-tell to creative colouring and craft activities.
On 28 June 2025, Faculty Higher Secondary School marked a moment of pride with the inauguration of a dedicated space for the School and House Flags. The ceremonial hoisting by the founder and Director symbolised unity, identity, and the enduring spirit of Faculty since 1982.
The Science Club of FHSS successfully organized a Plant Taxonomy / Botanical Nomenclature Awareness Program to highlight the importance of naming and conserving plant species. Students participated in keynote sessions by experts and an On-campus Garden Trail – Identification & Tagging Activity.
On World Environment Day 2025, under the theme "Ending Plastic Pollution Globally," the Faculty Family stood united to nurture a cleaner and greener planet. Through vibrant eco-activities, meaningful donations, creative competitions and awareness drives — from Nursery to Class XII — students embraced the spirit of sustainability.
The spirit of balance, wellness, and inner harmony filled the air as we celebrated International Yoga Day with great enthusiasm and mindfulness. Students actively took part in Yoga & Meditation sessions, Essay Writing on environmental well-being, and a thought-provoking Quiz to promote awareness about yoga, health, and sustainability.
Faculty Higher Secondary School, North Guwahati, celebrated the spirit of Rongali Bihu with great enthusiasm on April 12, 2025. The event began with a heartfelt felicitation of Respected Pradip Kumar Bhuyan Sir, Founding Trustee of Hati Bondhu. The celebration featured Bihu songs by students, a colourful Husori and Bihu dance performance, and concluded with the distribution of traditional Bihu delicacies.
