Faculty Higher Secondary School (FHSS) was conceived as an idea by Mrs. Banti Bhuyan, who strongly felt the paucity of good schools in private sector and from this strong conviction the embryo of the school was born and through the efforts of Mr. Pradip Kumar Bhuyan, a modest non-profit trust Osom Educational Trust (OET) was formed to set up a school under its umbrage, and Faculty High School was started in hired premises at Ambari, Guwahati, Assam on 2nd Jan 1982.

The school had a very humble beginning and the lack of finances and facilities was made up by the sheet dedication of its teachers and the Founding Trustees. It was vibrant with activities and these activities were in a way embodiment of the spirit of the institution, - it was not just academics but about the whole gamut of learning experience for the young mind.

The school was shifted to its permanent complex in 1992 in 20 acres of idyllic land, located by the banks of river Brahmaputra in the North Bank of Guwahati. The school today boosts of 70,000 sq.ft. of built up areas, - housing all indoor facilities that embrace laboratories including a well-developed biotech lab, conference facilities, libraries, activity areas, audio-visual rooms, language lab, digital teaching facilities, excellent computer facilities etc. It has sprawling gardens and lawns, and open air facilities like playgrounds, volleyball, basketball, open air stages, picnic areas etc. The school also boasts of a fully covered bowling track for its Cricket Academy and first class pitches for practice and play.

Facultians are now all over India and abroad and they have made a niche for themselves in various segments of the society.
